Homeless Man in Boise, Idaho to Run for Governor

04.26.2017

Boise man, Troy Minton has been living at River of Life Men's Shelter for a month now. Before that, he has lived on the street and in various other shelters.

"Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought about running for governor after all the situations that were coming up," Minton says.

According to Minton, his experiences throughout his life have influenced this decision. His main issue is raising minimum wage. "I know how hard it is with the struggles, with the heartache and headaches wondering how you're going to come up with the food, how you're going to come up with the money,".

He also hopes to help struggling families by providing them with needed resources. "If families are on the verge of losing their houses we need to step in and help them," Minton said. "That's why I'm running, to help change, to stand side by side with our families and the state of Idaho."

Though some have put him down for his high hopes, he spreads a positive message. "Follow your heart and dreams," Minton said. "If you want to go run for something, run for something."

As for me, I say to him 'Go and live your dream! I wish you the best of luck!'.

Firefighters Throw Baby Shower For Woman Who Lost Everything

4.22.2017

Nicola Taylor of Florida was thrown a baby shower and received many gifts from her family and friends before a fire destroyed her apartment as well as all of her gifts. Two days later, Lauderhill Fire Department, who had responded to the fire, threw her another baby shower and she was gifted with things like baby clothes and supplies, a necklace, and gift cards. All had been donated from her community.

"God is amazing," Taylor said. "This is more stuff than I had. Thank you."

The greatest gift of all was received last.

"The members of the fire department, the community, the people have donated. We were able to get you a new lease, a new apartment," González said as he handed Taylor the keys. "We've covered your deposit and a few months rent."

This is one grand act of kindness that won't soon be forgotten.
